There is so much to see and say about Bloom Meadows in Williamstown, Massachusetts. This beautiful Berkshire wedding venue sits on 70 acres in the heart of North County. Everywhere you look, there’s another incredible view.
The property includes the main white barn, the Silo Suite, and a bluestone patio lined with bistro lights. Bloom also recently added a gorgeous white chapel. Then there are the gardens, which somehow always seem to be blooming. The wooden bridges overlook the sweetest little creek. Beyond it all, an open field leads straight to the rolling Berkshire hills.
It’s a dream to photograph. Truly, the options are endless.
Jordan and Danny made the most of nearly every part of Bloom Meadows during their colorful June wedding. They got ready with family, celebrated outside and filled the barn’s dance floor. The entire day felt joyful, relaxed and completely like them.
Bloom Meadows: A Wedding Venue in the Berkshires
I first toured Bloom Meadows in 2017 while planning my own wedding. I immediately noticed how much thought Sarah and Greg, the team behind Bloom, had poured into every detail.
The property feels polished and thoughtfully designed. It’s beautiful and highlights the beauty of the surrounding property in every way. Couples can also use the spaces in so many different ways, which makes every wedding feel unique.
The team at Bloom is also unmatched. They know how to run a wedding day, keep everything moving and make people feel cared for. They’re calm, capable and genuinely invested in every couple’s experience.
So when Jordan and Danny contacted me about their Bloom Meadows wedding, I was psyched! A fun, laid-back couple at one of my favorite Berkshire wedding venues, in the middle of June? What could be better?!
A Colorful June Wedding in Williamstown
Jordan and Danny had the perfect weather for a summer wedding. It was sunny, hot and full of good energy.
The details gave colorful garden party vibes. Their florals felt lush, whimsical and perfectly at home among Bloom’s gardens.
Jordan wore a timeless wedding dress with delicate off-the-shoulder straps. Tiny buttons ran down the back. Danny chose a classic light blue suit with custom monogramming inside the sleeve.
They looked polished but still completely like themselves. Exactly how wedding attire should feel.
Jordan and Danny skipped a traditional wedding party. Instead, they spent the beginning of the day getting ready with their parents and officiant.
They also included their closest friends in family portraits. Honestly, I loved this idea. Everyone wants beautiful photos with their best friends on their wedding day. Why not add them to the formal portrait list?
Their friends brought so much color and personality to the photographs. Everyone had such fun personal style, yet the whole group looked amazing together. They were a gorgeous, colorful, fun bunch.
Family Portraits, Best Friends and 47 Cousins
We buzzed through formal portraits using the list I created with Jordan and Danny before the wedding. They also assigned family members to help gather everyone. This made the process move even faster.
Then came the 47-person cousin photo.
Yes, 47 cousins.
Apparently, they take this photograph at every family wedding. At this point, they’re seasoned professionals. We named the time and place, and all 47 people appeared.
No chasing. No missing cousins. No one wandering off to cocktail hour. No having to track down Aunt Joan.
I was wildly impressed (it’s easy to wander off at a venue as pretty as Bloom Meadows).
Planning the portrait list ahead of time allowed us to work quickly. Jordan and Danny got the photographs that mattered without spending their entire cocktail hour lining up for pictures. They joined in on their cocktail hour and got to mingle with their guests while I captured candids. A win for everyone.
An Extended Cocktail Hour on the Patio
After portraits, we moved into an extended cocktail hour. Jordan and Danny planned about an hour and a half outside on the bluestone patio.
They shared their first dance there and listened to speeches beneath the bistro lights. I loved how different this was, everyone gathered around drink in hand. It was casual but intimate.
When you have beautiful weather and views like these, why rush everyone indoors? Guests could mingle, enjoy the gardens and watch the sun begin to dip behind the hills. I also had more time to photograph the landscape and everyone enjoying it.
The longer cocktail hour gave this part of the day such a relaxed feeling. Nobody rushed from one scheduled event to the next. People could grab a drink, catch up and enjoy being together.
Dinner and Dancing in the White Barn
After a few teary eyed toasts, everyone headed into the main white barn for dinner and dancing.
Jordan and Danny didn’t just want a beautiful wedding. They wanted to throw an amazing party for the people they love. Their guests definitely understood the assignment.
After the parent dances, Jordan’s dad performed a song. Another teary eyed moment.
Moments like this make my job as a wedding photographer so special. The big events matter, of course. But the relationships underneath them matter even more. Those are the moments that bring the whole day back years later.
Once the music picked up, the dance floor filled quickly. I didn’t stay too much longer, but this group gave me plenty to work with. They packed a whole lot of dancing into a short amount of time.
A True Indoor and Outdoor Berkshire Wedding
One of my favorite things about Bloom Meadows is the indoor and outdoor flow.
Guests who want a break from dancing can gather around the fire pit. There’s usually s’mores ingredients ready and waiting. They can also settle into the Adirondack chairs and watch the sunset over the mountains.
Once the bistro lights turn on, the patio becomes even more inviting. Honestly, it can be hard to convince people to stay inside.
Jordan and Danny even served dessert outdoors. It was another sweet touch. Pun fully intended.
They used nearly every part of the property and made the most of the gorgeous weather. Their guests moved easily between the barn, patio, gardens and fields all evening.
The day felt colorful, heartfelt and full of people who were genuinely excited to celebrate them. It’s exactly the kind of wedding that makes Bloom Meadows so special. It’s also exactly the kind of day I love to photograph.
I felt so inspired by the landscape and gorgeous June weather that I photographed parts of the day on 35mm film too. Those images deserve their own moment, so I’ll save them for another post.
Planning a wedding at Bloom Meadows or another venue in the Berkshires? I’d love to hear what you’re dreaming up. Together, we can create photographs that bring back the people, energy and feeling of your day.
